Purchase TWICE as much food at your local farmers’ market with Double Bucks!

How it Works

When you use your EBT card at a participating market, Double Bucks will match your food purchases dollar for dollar. In other words, you can get twice the amount of food for you and your family!

Participating markets also accept and match WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program benefits. Be sure to visit the information table at any prior to using your FMNP dollars.

Seniors farmers' market nutrition Program

The NC Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a summer-only program that provides vouchers to eligible lower-income older adults to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh cut herbs at NC SFMNP certified farmers’ markets.  Typically, the NC SFMNP season is from July 1 to September 30.

Bring your Senior FMNP vouchers to the information table. We will double the amount you have in vouchers. $50 in SFMNP vouchers = $100 to spend at market. REMEMBER: Use your vouchers for fruits, vegetables, honey, and cut herbs, AND use your tokens for ANY SNAP-eligible FOODS at the market.

WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

WIC FMNP coupons are available for WIC-eligible pregnant, postpartum, partially breastfeeding and breastfeeding women and children 2 to 4 years old to obtain fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmers’ markets. Check with your local WIC office for more information on official FMNP start dates, how to receive your WIC FMNP benefits, etc.

Only available at participating markets. Check your local market prior to your arrival to see if they accept WIC FMNP benefits

Double Bucks Matters.

Double Bucks transforms the way Durham and Orange Counties provide food to food-insecure residents.  The program allows customers to choose and purchase top quality, culturally appropriate, local food with dignity. Customers say it helps their overall health, their mental health and helps them feel included in the community.

In 2023 we were able to reach 741 triangle area SNAP customers (and additional WIC, seniors, and public housing customers). Thanks to our funders, we were able to give out $148,397 in Double Bucks incentives, and farmers received
nearly $250,000 in food purchases.

All Triangle residents are impacted by a stronger local food system, healthier environment and stronger economy. Double Bucks draws federal dollars from the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assitance Program) and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program into our local economy.

“I think it is a great program helping people in need and having money go to farmers who are essential to local economy.” – Eno River Farmers’ Market DB customer

At what time of year does the program run?

It is a year long program! Please check your local market for seasonal hours.

Is there a limit to how much I can get doubled?

All of the markets match up to 100%.

SUN Bucks, also known as Summer EBT (S-EBT), is a new federal program that helps families by giving them money to buy groceries during the summer when children are not in school.

Starting in summer of 2024, qualifying families will receive $120 per eligible child. SUN Bucks benefits are issued to debit-like cards (EBT cards) that can be used to purchase healthy foods at places like grocery stores and farmers’ markets. Sun Bucks will be matched through our Triangle Double Bucks program at participating markets.
